If you brick a TV, then you will not be able to see your PS3, 360, PC, cable etc. I have never seen a TV CFW, but I have never looked for one, or even bothered to look to see if they exist
On my LG TV I have a CFW that allows me to use the USB port for music/video/audio. I wish there was a way I could record stuff though. There must be something, the thing is that you have to enable it... I'm pretty sure that if the firmware fails or its bad you can boot your TV into DFU mode and flash an older/other firmware transparently, your are not restricted compared to consoles, downgrading is possible with no hacks.
