As you can see the ps3 has my hdd serial stored. My old hard drive did work after I installed the new one though??? so my theory is probably only 50% correct lol.

Anything is better than nothing, thank you for trying to help me. I'll try this one. I'll buy a new HDD and an enclosing (just in case). I'll post my findings here when i get the items.
I am thinking of buying this one (
