yep most likely, check at ps3 settings - system settings - system info, look at the TB ver it should say 2.51, also when you insert the dongle to ps3 usb port the logo is facing down right? if so then most likely these are the new batch of TBs being shipped, the older ones have their TB logo on top of the device

I am having the same problem when I updated it stated unrecognised USB device and communication error with dongle, when I go into system info it's says Version 3.55
