Ok, well being that its on 3.73 its not as easy as it could be. The first thing would be to format the hard drive with another ps3 on the same firmware it was on. Then at that point, go into recovery, as it should let u now and Install an official firmware only. Probably wanna stick with 3.73 until that flashes fine. Then update again to 4.whatever. Now, if it did in fact go into factory service mode even though it did not show anything on the screen as such. Ur screwed, and will not be able to get outta this at the present time. But like i said, u just need to be certain of what firmware ur putting on and that it matches the one this console WAS on. After that, same method as usual for intalling an official firmware. Now with that being said, this is theory and may not work with 3.73 and rsod. I did it with 3.55 and are totally different firmwares. Though this will not hurt ur unit by trying it soo....worth a shot. Anyway, there is also a Lv2diag file for this particular situation called FactoryServiceMode_Lv2diag_RSOD.self though i beleive and am not 100% sure this is what u were refering to as a fix. I honstly think that this file is for consoles on 3.55 so be careful with it.
