In that case it sounds as though you have a chipset that doesn't play nice, so a VIA card may be your only option. Also BIOS settings will play a role. If you have your SATA controller set to anything other than IDE mode, and if you have IDE combined mode enabled (not sure what type of system you are working with) then it will fail. It took me months to figure out why it wasnt working on my system. Also which sata ports you are using will make a difference. For whatever reason JF will only see my primary channel. Also if you are on a 64 bit windows, keep in mind that you will have to fake sign portio64.sys and boot into test mode so that the required driver will run. If you have a raid setup, then that will also stop it from working. If you post your system specs, maybe I could help you out a little more.
