about the sound, i encountered the same problem as you did after the script.
push at the same time ctrl + alt + f1 on the environment to switch to tty1 (to switch back to desktop environment ctrl alt f7), login, and enter as root this command
select the Desktop environment with Space bar, change with tab to OK (make sure Desktop Environment is highlighted first) and press enter. it'll install the full stuff you need for sound and everything.
