ok, i am going to try again this week after getting 0.5mm cable to again connect the alternate BSE point to the tristate. will post pics of how i connect so you can see if i did it correctly.
would the GND-tristate procedure work in case of YLOD? Don't think that is the case, but you never know.
Just checked and i am able to perform the fantest, but after that, again 3 beeps/red flashing light and again when i repower the unit after that.
it is getting pretty frustrating (especially since the initial downgrade went well), but i am too stubborn to give up.
