Hey there.
Thanks, and yes I have searched all over the place. Re-installed my e3 onto the chip twice. Taken apart the ps3 I don't know how many times.
Ok, after wiggling the sd card around and and the e3 card itself, I finally managed to restore my original backup again. All lights blue, one by one. ( 8 of them, solid ) Followed your step 3 and 4, then after hitting start.. flash e3_downgrade.bin, I got blue flashing led's again. I'll keep trying. But my best guess is bad NOR connection.
Do you often end up having to solder all the connections?
Argh.

Ok, got my backup flashed in fun mode _again_ for the 3rd time. Pull the power cord after flashing it, set back to ps3 mode, and now the ps3 just turns off with the three beeps every time.
Fun mode switch on or off, the ps3 won't stay on now.
