@JustThatDude I will take a look into it again. Seemed ok initially.

@Cheesethief I guess I have misread that FAQ on the banner. I will look into flashing. Soldering is not a problem at all. Yes, Sony is not even admitting any issues with this. I bet its a trick to force people to replace their consoles or send them over for a tiny fee of 150 US dollars. Especially for consoles that are 3,4 years old.

@superfurry I read somewhere that this could be caused by excessive voltage supplied to the lens. Blu-rays stop first, DVD/CD work for a while and then its a total disaster since the device is completely shot with overrated supply. Again software settings.

A lot of threads on Sony community about this and no one says anything officially.
