I don't think there would be any threats from either side (assuming they are not one and the same). Basically, think of the Cold War. What kept the US from nuking the USSR, and the USSR from nuking the US? The fact that the attack would be answered in kind. They can each destroy each other by doing that, so the only thing they can do is agree not to "nuke" each other that way.

Sorry, but I'll never understand why people think that sony can't figure out what these guys are doing. Sony may overlook the flaws when creating the software/hardware, but with the level of access they have to their own machine I don't see how they can't easily figure out how people do things. The fact they haven't acted, doesn't mean they don't know, most probably it's not easy to implement the fixes without breaking other things.

I hope that isn't the case, and it's what the pessimist in me believes can very well happen. The only thing is that he hacker decided to remain an Anon, but who knows how long that'll last.

As I said, the most logical way to screw the dongles is to release the actual method, so when a hacker decides to release 2 eboots I can't help but be a bit suspicious.

I'm not a betting man, but this is what I would bet on given what little we know now. Maybe with more insight into this that will change, but right now, this seems like the more realistic reason.
