And yes I guess you can flash your xbox without buying anything but it soooo much easier and they know they will make money because most people will buy their stuff to make it easier! If they didn't have any way to make any $, the firmware would not be free! Just like the dongles are not going to offer a free solution because they have no other way of making $. Unfortunately its all about $! Trust me I don't like it either but its just the way that it is!
