Check the compatibility guide I posted a page or so back and see if disabling NMM or no disc patch makes a difference. Try the 2.1 Dios Mios update and try booting without an sd or gc memory card plugged in? Give it a try, let me know. iOS makes little difference for gc loading because it uses Mios instead of iOS.
