You did see it is a brick right? Probably a permabrick too. Who knows what he has been flashing to it, (cough: pro hacks modified BIOS :cough) trying to fix it?
If he can not get a backup with the per console info, then this machine is parts only.
Parts console = $50, assuming the drive is good.
Used e3 flasher = $40, maybe less. Since it has been used, you will not be able to use it for dual boot on another console.
