I had have been keeping on eye on anything related to Linux and the PS3 and did read some theories like IBM didn't want competition for it's servers. The thing was PS3 consoles sold to the US Army supposedly had OtherOS restrictions lifted so Linux could take full advantage of the RSX and Cell Processor.
I'm sorry, but just because it some "[unnamed] insider" said it was so and adding it up "1+1" makes complete sense to me I would need to see some sort of evidence that presents fact and not speculation based on trusted sources (as I do not know them they aren't trusted to me).
I just got caught claiming something without the proof to back it up and was nailed to the door, but that is okay as I don't treat people that way. If/when you do have the time to find that proof please either post it here or PM me. Like I said I kept 3.15 for a very long time and kept up on all the developments with the court case and CFW, but no place I have read had any sort of hard evidence why Sony really took down OtherOS. I've even emailed them for responses in the past and they claim it was due to security purposes.

As i said before it's pretty much a secret that was leaked by some "insider" so you can't expect it to be on the first page of some newspaper or that Sony will ever admit it's true.
It has not been recognized as the official reason but it's pretty much the general consensus that it must be the real reason.
Those sources where recognized as reliable by a lot of knowledgeable people so it's not really a question of knowing them or not, besides i cross checked the information they provided with my personal "trusted insiders" and they confirmed that it's real.
Most of the discussions about this took place on irc and i witnessed and took part in some of them but i don't know if i will be able to retrieve those logs.
But in the end it doesn't matter much if you believe me or not because i'm just trying to inform you about something that has already been established as a fact some time ago but i have a suggestion for you:sometimes it's simply more efficient to research on your own instead of always waiting for somebody else to provide you with some kind of proof
