There are added syscon hash checks on firmware higher then 3.55. So when you downgrade you have to use a firmware with these checks removed. Like Rogero.
If you downgrade to, or install a regular CFW or OFW that does not have the checks removed, PS3 goes in a syscon hash panic. And bricks.
So dehashing, does just that. It dehashes the syscon checks. So you get to an OFW on or below 3.55. Then your PS3 is like it was never downgraded.
The syscon hash checks are gone.
