For some reason I always had the image in my mind that white people just went to Africa and captured slaves and brought them to America. I had no idea a lot of slaves were actually captured by other warring tribes and sold to the Spaniards for things like spices, guns, incense, food etc. Then there was the Spanish slave trade triangle or the middle passage that went from Europe-Africa-America. But the major ports were in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. That's where American ships picked them up at. Now I know why there were never any rescue attempts.

Words of truth. The slaves were useless where they originally lived, so tribes would sell those useless slackers for something they can actually use.
