Unfortunately, I'm having a similar problem, but with SFxT-1.06-JPN.
I installed the update, went to the folder though MM, renamed sfo and bin and copied the new files. When booting (BD Mirror ON and OFF) it just asks me to update 3.77. All the other games fixes I tried worked, so I'm a bit confused.
I'm on DEX3.55, if anyone can help. Thanks

Just fixed it. I used the EUR eboot.bin, and it just worked. I think the JPN release is corrupted.
