u can't make a backup of the HDD and expect to have a backup, well yes of ur files etc but not an backup of ur bios/flash/norchip, having a good backup of the NOR can fix the ps3 anytime, the firmware files/coreos on the NOR chip also keeps track of wich one is installed atm(ros0/1 folder) so u can low level format the hdd anytime and when putting it in it ask for a hdd format and asks/re-install the previous firmware for that it checks the NOR coreos files, or something like that lol
anyway, this last dump is another real bad one, all FF's, the first batch u had there had a close to "good" dump!!, only at the end of the file to many FF's and to little 00's
it's the clip for sure, take ur time and press it gently on the nor, if u can see a small space underneath it it's not fitted all the way, yes it may look good it isn't
then put something on top and tape it down very good cuse when u re-assamble it it tends to get loose from the pins a u can see in ur backups
now tell to urself...i'm gonna fix the sucker once and for all...have fun

The coreos files is what I was kinda logically thinking would be on the HDD that had the firmware too, but yeah come to think of it, at this stage with no signal, no hdd activity it's practically impossible to get anythin off that HDD

!
My ps had be disassembled and open for the last 4 days or more ! I do'nt wanna reassemble it knowing this chip is gonna crap out on me while gettin the dump

! Does it mean something if all the dumps i'm getting now start with like a hundred lines of FFs ?? Or is it just that damn clip again

!!? I don't suppose i can solder it eh

!!?
It started out as fun now it's just depressing
