im trying to use this reverter but everytime i go into recovery mode and select system update the ps3 locks up and i got to start all over...wont let me update... anyone know why???

k got into the system update section of recovery mode. i put the usb drive in hit select and start and it says checking... then says no applicable update data was found... connect storage media that contains update data of version 4.23 or later. i have the file in the ps3/update folder and it just wont work...it cant find the file...any ideas?
