It's recommended to have a hardware flasher like e3 and progskeet before proceeding but if you are confident and careful enough it's totally doable even without one.
I did it without one and it was when the process wasn't so simple like now.
P.S. If your ps3 is a nand model you have to know that it's very risky to reconvert again from dex to cex.

oke thanks i will check if i have an nand model im not sure how but it should be on google. If i have dex why would i want reconvert to cex?
p.s i also have an slim ps3 with latest ofw so i can play sleeping dogs and darksiders 2
