i know how it is to lose data, i lost over 100gb of data, mp3, foto's, video's, scanned documents and other very important stuff.
UPSIDE: if the hdd is still intact you can bring it to the computershop to recoverdata. i know the police does this when they need data on a burnt hard drive so this is a no-brainer to them, if it still is intact.
2nd of all download the program restorer pro (version year of 2000) then scan it on a computer using windows xp or 7 then maybe you should see the MBR (multi boot record) and maybe you can clone restore it on another good working HDD.
If none of the above can work for you then use a sledge hammer and start over !!!
i honestly really know how you feel. even heard of the story of final fantasy 7 at all full level 99 save, then little bro or sis wipes it clean!!!!
