Everything went well with the e3 flasher. I got to the point where I had to use the !prepared! dongle. But i used the standard PSjailbreak dongle to get to the fsm.
Instead my ps3 comes up with message on the screen "Please connect the PS Controller and hit the PS button" and I DID that and I got a new screen message "Harddrive is not correct and format it and update the ps3 to 3.70 firmware bla bla"

Ok the steps you followed should have been either using the downgrade.bin or your patched backup bkpps3.patched.bin
Have all switches down
Press start on flasher, and wait for blue leds to light up 1 by 1. When done lights will alternate flash.
Reboot PS3 from XMB
On boot you should see "please connect controller screen" (note - If you see a blackscreen instead, you can still continue with next step)
DO NOT CONNECT CONTROLLER!
TURN OFF POWER BY SWITCH OR PULL POWER CABLE
Insert your downgrade dongle in the right USB port.
Plug in power cable or switch back on.
Press POWER then EJECT in that order within a split second. and wait for the PS3 to shut off by itself.
So did you follow those steps. You don't press any buttons on the controller when you get that message.
Sorry to hear your PS3 is dead, but just checking to make sure you followed the procedure correctly.
