1 no. you play homebrew from the xmb or you can back up your games from disc to your hdd and play them from the hdd saving your laser and your discs from damage
2 only on old backwards compatible consoles
3 if your above 3.55fw then read my guide. if your below 3.55fw then update to 3.55 and install a 3.55cfw over the top then decide if you want to risk trying the new 4.21 rogero cfw
