Chinese are good for everything tech wise? I think you mean sh*t for everything tech wise. I've lived here half my life, I buy all my tech products from America (unless I don't care about it going dead in a couple months) and have it shipped to me. Tech here is of the lowest quality imaginable, how do you think they keep it so cheap? They are good at "copying" existing tech, but like said, in an extremely low quality form, so most clones break in a short amount of time or are riddled with flaws.
Also the 20 days of "military training" isn't really training, it has nothing to do with guns, the students just go outside and walk around in marching drills, do map exercises, or really most of the time just sit down for hours in the sun while a couple guys in uniforms drink tea (no joke).
Yep, they sell PS3 everywhere here, taobao (it's like the amazon of China) and many electronics stores. Not hard to find at all. Funnily enough though, these same places will also jailbreak you're PS3 for a small fee as well, and fill up your internal HD with all the hacked games you like. They also sell legit games here too though. Although like mentioned, they are mostly all in Japanese, Korean, or English.
Just thought I'd add a pinch of detail.

1) It's a paradox, only because they are the ones behind the manufacture probably the biggest one and many other things about the system but they have a console ban on their own country so legally they can't buy the system because the gob or some stupid law states that.
Yeah you can buy it in every single corner if you want to, even Jailbreak for small fee. Happens the same in the Country im in, you can go to the local store and you ask the local owner to *Refill* your external HDD fo X quantity of money (not very expensive) also Jailbreak, etc if you want it.
And here we don't have any Console ban but that kind of laws is very similar to China one..*flexible*.
About what i said about being *tech-wise* i did not say TOP quality products, quite the contrary they generate so much demand on the market because they make copy-cats of every single top quality product.
For example here we have something called I9 that's being sold for a cheap price and is Chinese, it's a phone that on the outside it's the same as an Iphone but on the inside...well you can figure out.
They are *tech-wise* because of that, they know how to be to step ahead from the competition avoiding, breaking any kind of copyright law possible on the way.
Believe i also know what i am talking about becase i have to deal with Chinese products almost on daily basis and sometimes my eyes can't believe wtf im checking...
Long story short, that i was aiming to.
1) For ME it's a paradox, since they are the biggest manufacturer of products and in this case PS3 (electronics) and even have a foxconn with this *new* model but they can't purchase in a legal way the system because Sony never made an official release on the Country that most rely on.
2) Tech-wise = They know how to copy-cat almost anything, from cellphones to tablets, tv's, you name it. At a LOW cost and you know that if you are buying something that instead of having the name SEGA, says SENGA (im not kidding) you get what you pay for.
About military service was something to add to all of this, i know that it's not something like happens on another countries.
Maybe a silly comparision of situation from me..but meh happens.
