have you tried to lauch the games and not update then?
I had the same issue when i update my One Piece: Kaizoku Musou, i know it's not a newer game, but every time i start it, it ask me for the update, and when finished the donwloading and installation process, it quits to XMB, then i erase the update, lauch the game and chose to not update, and it works!
Now for AC III, i really don't know man... try to search for people with the same troubles, maybe someone already solved it!
