There is a way around everything, so they won't bother wasting resources to try to trap people doing that. They need real "Concrete Evidence".
The average joe wouldn't think of restoring their mac, and as usual sony logs every app executed. The other thing to bear in mind is that the ps3 does send data to the ps3 after every boot, there is an exception. Once you go online data gets sent regardless. So having multiple macs when the duplicate gets logged into the servers doesn't mean much when you restore your mac address.

The only way to avoid that is not log in, what would be the point then? Even if you were to delete history you went online with the duplicate mac, Sony is aware of these hacks and pkgs.

Knowing how shady Sony is and the way they've handled the hacking situation, they don't need much to go after you. Your cfw, your ps3...but when it comes down to ruining it for others just because you wanted another week of BO2, you deserve what's coming to you.

I"m all for cfw and unlocking my ps3 as long as it doesn't affect others negatively. (cheating, stealing...etc) It makes it hard for cfw users to make a case when crap like this happens to legit users.

The only way I see this being ok is if you get banned, you manage to grab the mac of YOUR ylod ps3 or spare ps3 that doesn't go online. If you got banned from psn once, they keep a close eye on you. This is the same way with MS, if they detected modified firmware and they ban you, they ban you much quicker the second time you do it because you're on their watchlist. They don't need to gather much evidence to ban since you have a record.

There may be ways around it but this is a cat and mouse game, you never get the last laugh.
