Ok guys, I've come across another problem . The PS3 won't start. This initially happened when I got it but I thought it was like that and I thought it would work with a hard drive on. Solder a wire from the nor tristate to VSS (ground) on motherboard.
If it stays on with black screen, no hdd activity, and solid green light, that means it is from a bad flash. And may be fixable with a hardware flasher.
If it doesn't stay on and does the same YLOD, it means there is a hardware failure somewhere. May be fixable with a reflow/reball.
