They try so hard to be different, but I just wish they'd go with the flow. They have a lackluster online service, refuse to adopt and prioritize conventional controller designs such as the PS3/360 controller and cannot get proper third party support to save their lives. I think homebrew is the only thing that can save this console. I feel bad for people that don't plan on hacking it.

Their innovation is the only thing that's been keeping them in the game. NObody would have bought the Wii if not for the motion controls experience. Ironically, the PS3 controller is built off nothing but Nintendo innovations. It's layout is basically a Super Nintendo Controller with an extra bumper and grips. The joystick and rumble feature were also both adapted from the Nintendo 64 controller. So you could say that by proxy the innovations of Nintendo has kept Sony alive as well. Not to mention Sony adopted PSN from LIVE. I like the fact that you still don't have to pay for online premium services from Nintendo.
