Just thought I'd point out that these surveys are based on a very small group, especially when compared to the population and often not representative either.
Why some one would want a Ipad over a proper console is beyond me.

social networking / privacy from parents when on internet / portable etc
i see how kids would want one in single PC households and not everyone likes to game. id say around only 10% of my friends are gamers
also, 84% of statistics are made up on the spot
