I was thinking, you can have multipy hdd for the same f/w...I was swapping out drives once to use custom game lobbies in waw and mw2...i could swap the internal for another one and let the process format it all it wanted and then swap back in my good one...sound good?

i was doing that when i had my old dual boot setup i had two 3.55 hdd and one ofw hdd if thats what you mean i dont see why if this works you cant install the same firmware on two hdd
