Well, you'll need more than just the model number. To give an example, my wife's laptop is a Toshiba L300D, however, hers is specifically an L300D-202. The second portion of that specifies which exact model of it she has. Since Toshiba makes numerous models of the L300 (as you can see
here) in both Intel and AMD board sockets as well as different GPU and port configurations, it's vital to know the exact laptop model. Be sure to get all the info from the sticker on the bottom of the notebook, which will have more info than your manual or a model name from the top of the notebook.
