the txt you sent. its looking for hdd / bluray drive / blutooth / wifi etc at the point it has the error.

if the ps3 boots (with black screen) and the hdd is connected then you need to check the bluray drive is also connected correctly.

once its all connected then unplug the ps3 fron the mains then try and do the fsm downgrade step again.

its 3.30am for me so this is my last reply tonight.

but if the above doesnt get you any further then dont try flashing or anything with the E3 without advice from eg: playerKP420 or master737373 if they are online
as it doesnt sound to far of from being done. or just wait for me to come back on tomorrow.

is the fan attached / connected as it sounds about the right lenth of time for the ps3 to shut down due to excessive heat / over heat

I think you may be right. the fan is connected but when I looked at the cpu, it has little to no thermal paste. Could this be the cause of the cut off issue? I do have some paste available. I was waiting til the downgrade and when I put everything back together before doing this.
