I ended up being able to update from Rebug 9.99 to Ermac 4.30 and install my new hdd than update to Rogero 4.30 1.03 -- It was looking like there wasn't much hope for a short while, but thankfully because of the amazing work by the rebug team, and other developers, and the iron clad Recovery Mode I was able to get this working.
