had this same problem with my current ps3 i bought, checked it in the guys house it was fine, brought it home about an hour later same thing freeze, i just saw the low firmware and jumped on it, this will get worse and unfortunately you have no choice but to open it to fix it, the inside of these consoles or any console is very delicate, and if you do not know what you are doing you you will most certainly damage it beyond repair, send it to someone who knows what they are doing, i suggest a reball, i did a reflow on mine about fifteen months ago and now the fan is getting loud which from what i have read means its coming back, a reball will sort your problems out! good luck


the fact it has never been opened is very good news, your chances of it being fixed have gone up 100%
