I cant recall too much about those screws but I think they are in plastic. In which case the plastic would get softer before the skrew expands.

I never had any problems with those screws. If it really is tightly in place, then place your left hand at the back of the machine and right hand on the screw driver, and push together as hard as you can while turning the screw driver. It should be safe...its only when it comes to the mother board where I wouldnt reccomend this method as the board could crack
