So it wasn't on CFW? You weren't trying some funky stuff, installing something or doing an update and lost power?
Or you don't know, because you bought the PS3 like that?
It could be many things. The 3 beeps and red blinking light is:
RLOD
RLOD - Flashing Red Led of Death
Failure in the loaders stage. Suspects: Flash content: CoreOS files - pre VSH.
Seen in combination with poweroff when downgrading below metldr/bootldr capability

But I have also seen that symptom be a hardware issue.
To narrow down if it is a hardware or software issue, you can do this.
Solder a wire from the NOR Tristate to a GND point. If the PS3 stays on with solid green light and no video, it means it is a Software brick. (corrupted flash)
If it still does the same thing, then it is a hardware issue. Could be PSU, GPU, CPU, or any of the other culprits for YLOD.
