I don't get the overall idea for ps4, from leading company in tech innovation suddenly they're building "next gen" with mobile parts, a what is even funnier, build in cpu graphics. What sucks even more is ram. I know that programming consoles is different , and there is much less overall overhead, but 4 gb is going to be to little for open world games in the future... Epic wanted at least 8gb, carmack wanted 8gb, crytek wanted even more. What sony does ? F**k them !
They pay even funnier low prices for this ram chips in bulk.... And even better at least 512mb-1gb will be reserved for the system. As far as I can tell, adding ram would be the CHEAPEST way to increase games quality, immersion, overall feel... But again we will have beautifull gfx, but it's going to be repetitive, lacking real world variety, with bushes and buildings will pop out in front of our faces....
Coming back to GPU, in ps3 they could develop chip with nvidia that outperformed two 6800 in SLI ( which was dream config back then), and now they're using mobile gpu, which cannot pull battlefield 3 in FULL HD, max detail, 60 fps, and even doesn't come near today's high end gfx cards. Before someone start complaining, yes I know programming for consoles is different, and bf3 ported to ps4 would run even better than 60 fps even in 3D. But in four years the games on "nex gens" will have 24+ fps framerate plus hilarious draw distance...
We were astonished by jump gaming made with ps3 and x360, I fear that with ps4 and x-whatever we will get the same games, gameplay, feel, only with better pc-like graphics....
I can only wish that this info is pure bull****. But bearing in mind Sony's poor financial condition. I think they're aren't going to pay for every ps4 sold, as they did with ps3, which costed much more than it was in stores.
BTW sorry for my english, it's not my native language
