The copyrights aren't technically being broken unless one copies a game/hardware.
The waranty yes. The user agreements Yes.
But CFW/hacking isn't about piracy(MOST of the time lmao matters who you talk to....) IMO, It's about the freedom to code for a console/ pc for yourself.
Of course Sony gives you the choice to become a developer with their Wand **** stick but first you have to do the wand not the console(SO much more you can do with it) and it costs a good pretty PRETTY penny
Let's see I have a PSP with highest updated CFW and I was a Nitepr coder and a Homebrew creater(Made one simple program. NOT high end since didn't know how to program with sony's code/#includes etc.)
