we are talking about the big ribbon cable right? , from ps3 mainboard to the drive's logic board.

, your drive also have this cable?
if you examine the cable close enough you probably notice that one trace is damaged..
if you switch the cable lik you did, it's correct that the ps3 won't see the game,but will eject and insert, i tested this myself on a damaged cable.
