Then multiman will play the game fine with the split file. It will join the file and keep it in the game cache, on the internal drive.
So you will still need to have some room on the internal. But this will allow to keep all games on the external. You can clear the game cache in multiman, so you can play a different split game. In case you are limited on space on the internal.
