4: as @stevorkz told the most important files of the FW (coreOS) are saved on the NOR
i dunno if the whole FW is saved on the NAND or only coreOS too but your PS3 is NOR

let me explain the coreOS:

what if you put in another HDD? the PS3 boots recognizes its new HDD and wants to install FW again
but how is the PS3 able to load the OS with a not installed/formatted HDD? because it loads its coreOS on the NOR/NAND
if you compare that to a PC where the OS is fully saved on the HDD its pretty usefull
imagine you put another HDD to a PC... it boots to BIOS.... and searches for ever for an OS/bootmanager

an E3 flasher (limited) is the replacement for the 2nd coreOS
for dualboot you need 2 FWs so 2 HDDs and 2 coreOS's
the OFW one is on NOR and the second coreOS for the second FW is saved in the e3 flasher

5: i dont know if a burned game would work but BD-mirror on rebug 4.21.2 will run definitly
it simulates a disc in the BD (only works on rex 4.21)
