Depends on the PS3 minverchk.
If the PS3 can go down to <= 3.55 then yes you could downgrade to 3.55.
If the PS3 can go to 3.56 and has metldr 1 (not 2) you could patch 3 musketeers and instal CFW 4.30 directly..
I am NOT 100% that this would work as I think 4.30 is the max allowed to patch 3 musketeers patch CFW NOT 4.31, have to double check that...
