Hello I'm new here, and I'm thinking about buying a second hand PS3 (CECH-2107B). I've done the research and know it can be downgraded from OFW 3.55+ to 3.55 to install the CFW. However, in this guide it seems I can do so with simply a USB stick formatted to FAT32, while this other guide ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39766 (had to remove the http since my post count is low) suggests I have to do some soldering etc.
So I'm just wondering which is the right way, because if any soldering or tempering with actual hardware then I won't get the PS3.
Thanks for the help in advance

EDIT: ok it seems the USB stick is only for OFW below 3.55 to upgrade to 3.55. However I would still like to get confirmation. Thanks
