You are correct sir! I did have a fan in the cabinet. My PS3 gave up its' slot for a new DVD player (mainly 'cuz I hardly ever used it) and was living on top of the cabinet. Fired it up one day and the fan never went past low speed during a session. Next thing I know, the GPU is artifacting and I can smell burning plastic.
BTW, Koolance and a couple of other companies make dedicated waterblocks for the PS3, I just didn't like the price of them.
