I was able to use the 18F2550 HEX files on the 18F2553 as found in the kit http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pro...oducts_id=8265

That kit came with the 18F2553 and a 20MHz resonator so I imagine the 24MHz in the prebuilt would work as well, you'd just need a to compile the hex with the right PLL divisor. Supposedly it might be possible to adjust or get recompiled.

I used the file from this post http://psx-scene.com/forums/showpost...&postcount=904 and just followed the basic directions linked off the sparkfun website for loading the hex (once the unit was put together).

Used the Bootloader version of 18Fx550-20mhz-RC0.hex and programmed with PDFSUSB just fine. Amber/Yellow LED flashes during payload delivery and stays lit when done.

I use a mac, so I wrote the file using usbpicprog. I changed the PLL value in the config flags... It took the flash, and the bootloader is still good. Will check the device in about an hour!

I can't thank you enough for your help!

Another CONFIRMED working device

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know of another WORKING device.

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pro...oducts_id=8265

This and the pre-populated boards will BOTH work for the exploit. The nice thing is they are only 25 bucks.

I used the bootloader 20 mhz pin 0 hex, and just switched the pll to mine (pre populated is 24mhz).

GOOD LUCK!
