Proxy And DNS Methods No Longer Useable - PS3Hax Network

It seems the proxy and DNS methods were short lived this time, garyopa PSX-SCENE's admin has reported that Sony have blocked all routes, here is what he says in his forum post:

Starting this afternoon, PSN was updated, so previous bypass like the simple DNS change over to 67.202.81.137 has now been blocked, along with other forms of proxy tools like Logan5's program.

If you wish to use your PS3 online now, or any PSN feature, you will have to update v3.42, and forgot about using for now any of those PSGroove, PSJailbreak, PSFreedom type of devices.

I have not see any update yet from the owner of the DNS private box, that tons have been have been using, you can check here and see if maybe he has figured out a work-around, but please don't all go tweeting him at once, he does have a life, and was doing this out of the kindest of his heart, for all the millions of PS3 owners wishing to stay online, using the nice "Jailbreakable" v3.41 firmware!

And everyone should at least by thankful for the time they so-far have been able to stay online, but Sony seems to be HOT on track in cutting out your options to stay on v3.41.

gutted but got my eye on getting a slim off a friend who owns a shop, he's had it for a couple of weeks so should be fine

Fudge it i guess i'm updating hope they come up with a patch for 3.42 soon i just want some home brew i miss playing pokemon on my psp now i want to play it on ps3, and super Mario! lol

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that
90% of the people staying at 3.41 FW , thus needing the proxy/alternative bypass methods
are doing so for the Backup manager side of the exploit rather then the true homebrew opportunities.

And for those 90% , I say you should not be using sony's online resources for the purpose of playing backups so you should not circumvent their online service to do so.

If you want to play the "I use backups to ensure my retail media lasts longer" ....

I say by the time your original game was truely worn out from play time.. you could pick up the game for $5 in the bargain bin...

If you want to mod the ps3, sacrifice the PSN / online portion.

To expect otherwise is silly indeed.

Bummer, oh well. This is just the start. Anyone thats been in the scene, any hacking scene for that matter, should know that the manufacturer is always the one that is one step ahead. We do something to make progress and then its almost instantaneously blocked. Only then, after in this case Sony, employs their blocks can the hackers/devs/sceners attempt to work there way around them. The scene wouldnt ever learn as much about the systems if they werent forced to learn the deepest parts of them to work around the blocks employed. This is still the very beginning and it will be very very interesting to watch this war unfold. Most of the time, once the initial hack is made the war is already lost for the manufacturer. All they can do is hope to win small battles to impede our progress, that is exactly what sony is doing. Even if we cant ever get back online with 3.42 and use the jigs, we can use what we have now to develop and learn more about the system and discover new things that we may be able to use in the future.

i'm online right now using my ps3 on fw 3.41.i've been online since 10:00 am this morning.if i signout then sign back in it won't let me?
