with the speed that sony is taking the links down one would assume they are terrified.
I don't have a copy but those that do should make as many copies as they can. Email it in bcc to as many folks as you can - Sony will be hard pushed to stop that - especially if it's encrypted. Also upload it - try zipping it and changing the file name a little to make finding it harder. Rapidshare, megaupload, zshare, eshare, hotfile.com, easyshare, et al! Let's get the links up as quickly as we can. The more copies the merrier! |

Simply put, this is the document which made the whole PS3Jailbreak/PSgroove/PSFreedom possible.. He just put it out there just to show this wasn't an exploit, but a normal functionality..

This isn't normal functionality. Normal functionality is the fact that the PS3 probes for the jigstick prior to booting lv2. Everyone knew that a very long time ago, AFAIK from the dumps that Geohot initially allowed. The jailbreaks don't even really use the jigstick code that much. It's more of a door knock to get the PS3 off the couch and check who is there- there's a lot of other stuff going on that involves breaking that door wide open and exploiting the lv2 kernel to run arbitrary payloads. Trust me, if people had figured out how to use the jigstick code in an official manner without Sony's internal authentication servers, then a lot more then 3.41 would be exploitable (up to and including 3.50). These documents don't prove anything other then the fact that Sony is using USB descriptors to transfer small amounts of data between the PS3 and their official jigstick during bootup. There isn't anything about the keys the official jigstick uses- just a bunch of diagrams pointing to some illusive "SCEI" server, which is what *all* of the internal Sony software wants to ping before it does *anything* to any PS3. IMHO; I don't think this information is useful to anyone. It outlines a bunch of inconsequential stuff that has nothing to do with the exploits we use. I highly doubt any of it is going to lead to any future developments regarding 3.42 or higher.
