Can we make dynamic themes yet?

As the title suggests.

Now the ps3 has been violated I was wondering if there was a way to add our own moving backgrounds to the xmb in order to make a ps3hax theme as one hasn't been made yet.

I know there are theme creators but only developers have permission to create dynamic ones.

I am hoping somebody knows where on the ps3 these backgrounds are stored such as the default wave for example or of any way to unpack a dynamic theme as we should now be able to install unsigned ones in jailbroken mode.

It's probably a long shot this early on in the hacking scene to be possible but it can't hurt to ask.

i think backgrounds are stored/ packaged on the theme file right. are dynamic themes in p3t format? i dont know if its gonna work but if it contains files and code for the ps3 to use as a theme, maybe we can decrypt it and see its contents?

I unpacked the heavy rain theme and the actual animation is a 1.5mb jpg but I can't seem to open it with anything.

Unfortunately changing the file with a movie and editing the XML doesn't work.

what did you use to unpack the p3t btw? I tried some of the older tools and couldnt get them to work!

I want to know how to make dynamic themes too! Have you opened the jpg in a hex editor btw (incase it gives away its format etc)

I'll have a check when I get back from work tomorrow.
It was an older tool to unpack it.
Just dragged the p3t on it and it dumped the XML, icons and anim into a folder.
Maybe it was called p3t extractor I'm not sure. The same tool to extract normal p3t themes.

I only tried heavy rain dynamic theme

I haven't looked at the hex yet (never thought to)

Oh well, sumthin to do tomorrow then

Common thing when files arent what they seem (by extension) is to open in hex editor to see if the first 4 characters give any info away.

In this instance, anim_1.jpg is _RAF so its def not a jpg lol...

I simply renamed to .raw and photoshop cs5 detects its width of 1797, height 845... that of course could be very wrong.... I was just my first quick thought haha

I should point out it opens 'fine'....by that i mean theres no wrong extension or cant open this type error but looks like tv static lol

Ill look more into it when I get a chance.. could be another one of sonys special formats like PAMF video files.
