I'm PRETTY sure that if using a Les Paul or Band Hero guitar, then there's no support in Rock Band 1.

I was curious the same thing last night actually because my friend was mentioning how its stupid we even own Rockband since we sold the equipment that came with it. I personally dont play it that often, so I asked him why we couldnt use the guitars and he said it wasnt backwards compatible with RB.

I am pretty sure I have played with any guitar in RB and RB2. If my mind remembers good, I think there was an update for Rock Band and maybe also Rock Band 2 and old Guitar Heros to make them all compatible each other. Get the update file and update it.
