Easy way to delete each Game's Updat file?

I am full of questions today !

I want to delete a bunch of unnecessary data from each game file.

I am fully aware on the process to ftp into my console.

However I am unsure where to search and delete the updat.pup file for each game

Can someone please tell me in which directory to find the file. I know I can delete it with no problems loading the game if using ps3 game ripper etc- , but can I just m,anually delete the file through ftp using wnscp ?...with each update file being around 250+gb I think it will help me save some space.

Also, I have installed the Ghostbusters game and can see on the cover that it has blueray movie trailers etc- am I unable to simply delete these as with the updat files?

Does anyone have experience in trimming down game files

Any general info on what else I can delete (such as original game data ) would be appreciated

Thnx 4 the help.

Just get a bigger hdd also I never deleted an update.pup file so I don't know if it can create some problems. However, if you really want to do it get comgenie file manager (you probably could do it in ftp I haven't really used it though).

http://comgenie.com/filemanager/

install the pkg in JB mode and then go to dev hdd0 > game > LAUN12345 > GAMEZ > pick a game folder > PS3_UPDATE click square to delete.

There are several tools around the forum, these type of tools are always front paged, try using the search in future.

This app is very good, http://www.ps3hax.net/2010/10/safeim...kg-compressor/

Yeah I use PS3 ripper, so I dont need to check the downloads section

And I have the original disc, so I am burning straight to HDD, so I was hopiong to be able to delete updates via ftp without having to drag them to my PC and back again..any tips?

When your copying the files just don't copy the update directory.

thats good in theory, but i am ripping them from my original disc, so as far as I can see there is no option to selectively copy files. Will try the ftp method..
